Description of the Process
- Members of a group will read the information about the entire project. Group members will use the planning sheet to outline individual responsibilities toward the completion of the entire task. You should go back to the situation, introduction, and task pages if you need to review this information.
- Each group of students will begin by doing preliminary research to familiarize themselves with the Modern Atomic Theory and the key figures listed in the description of the task. Research should include information gained from the websites on the resource page, as well as other sites and sources.
- The group will delineate the responsibilities of researching individual scientists after agreeing on a template for the creation of the fact sheets. The template should clearly define categories of information that will be consistent with each fact sheet. Each fact sheet should include the name of the student compiling the information on that scientist. If you need help with making a template please refer to that link below.
- As groups gather information about the scientists, they should also note important dates and accomplishments to begin to develop a chronological sequence of events for use in the Power Point presentation/Prezi. This sequence should include three distinct regions of time, early atomic theory (including major subatomic particles), wave particle theory, and quantum theory. The Power Point presentation/Prezi will show the contributions of the scientists in each of these eras. If you need help with making a PowerPoint Presentation or Prezi please refer to those links below.
